POSITION OVERVIEW
Develop and nurture a strong, high-performing culture where employees are motivated, engaged, and aligned with Hickory’s values. Proactively support key HR initiatives acquire and retention a highly skilled workforce, reducing disruptions and enhancing operational efficiency. Use data-driven insights to optimise HR strategies, ensuring performance metrics align with business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Workforce & Talent Planning

  • Align talent strategy with Hickory’s goals, identifying the skills and mindset needed for success.
  • Develop attraction and reward strategies that enhance our Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
  • Implement succession planning to build a strong leadership pipeline through training, mentoring, and motivation.
  • Drive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to foster diverse perspectives and normalise conversations around mental health.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop and execute a recruitment strategy that ensures a strong pipeline of talent.
  • Define and uphold standardised assessment criteria for hiring decisions.
  • Oversee onboarding and induction to ensure a seamless transition for new employees.
  • Manage probation periods effectively to accelerate new hires’ contribution to the business.

Performance, Development & Talent Management

  • Establish a competency framework and performance management processes.
  • Guide managers in performance reviews, linking them to promotions, development, and remuneration.
  • Implement tailored learning and development programs, from compliance training to executive coaching.
  • Identify and nurture high-potential employees for leadership roles, ensuring strong succession planning.

Reward & Retention Strategies

  • Design and manage a competitive reward framework, including fixed and variable compensation structures.
  • Implement employee benefits that enhance retention and engagement.

Employee Relations & Workplace Culture

  • Provide guidance on employment laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Manage workplace grievances, disciplinary matters, and whistleblower protections.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for employee well-being, offering support for stress, mental health, and workplace concerns.
  • Partner with business units to tailor HR strategies to their unique needs.
  • Lead initiatives that improve employee engagement, well-being, and workplace satisfaction.

Exit & Offboarding

  • Support all exit processes, from voluntary resignations to terminations and redundancies.
  • Conduct exit interviews to gather insights and refine retention strategies.

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing HR systems, frameworks, and policies to enhance efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation, benefits, and reward frameworks.
  • Ability to standardise and improve hiring, onboarding, and performance processes.
  • Experience driving cultural change and fostering an inclusive, high-performance environment.
  • Ability to support employees through transitions, performance management, and career development.
  • Ability to influence and advise senior leaders on people strategy and decision-making.
  • Ability to align HR strategies with business goals and long-term workforce planning.
  • Experience designing and implementing DEI, engagement, and well-being initiatives.
  • Familiarity with employment law, workplace relations, and HR best practices.
