Welcome
Welcome to the La Trobe Tower construction updates page. Hickory have created this page to keep the community informed throughout the construction of La Trobe Tower and to provide an easy way for neighbours to find all the latest construction news and important works alerts.
Using this site
Hickory will issue construction updates, works alerts and other important updates throughout the construction program. These notices will be displayed on a signboard outside the building site, will be posted on this website under the Important Notices tab, and will also be issued directly to neighbours that register for email updates. If you’d like to get in touch with any questions or concerns regarding Hickory’s construction works or register for updates, please fill out your details using the Contact Us form.

About La Trobe Tower
La Trobe Tower is a new residential tower located at 323 La Trobe Street on the Southern side of the block between Queen and Elizabeth Streets. The building will be 42 levels high when complete and will consist of 205 apartments, ground floor retail and one basement level.
The project developer has awarded Hickory Group the construction contract to build La Trobe Tower, and we will be erecting the building using our innovative Integrated Structural System.
Construction Process
Hickory’s construction method involves conventional construction of the building to level 2, with the remaining levels of the building structure (floors, columns and building façade) to be built off site in our Brooklyn factory and delivered to La Trobe Street as a series of prefabricated structural units and precast concrete panels that are assembled in place via crane.
This method of construction enables buildings to be completed 50% faster than using conventional methods, is more sustainable as up to 90% less waste is produced, is safer for workers and passersby, and is less disruptive to the community in the long term as less noisy works are completed on site and fewer deliveries are required over the course of construction.
To ease congestion in the area, Hickory plan to deliver and install much of the prefabricated elements after hours, when trams and neighbouring construction sites cease operations. All after hours works are being managed according to industry best practice and in consultation with local authorities, specialist consultants and the local community.
