RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Management of the early services design process from pre-planning through to construction.
  • Provide guidance and advice on design implications during pre-construction phase and on build feasibility issues.
  • Provide advice on value management and project specifications.
  • Assist in tendering and subcontracting main services trades, including detailed input into subcontract scope, scope gaps, all opportunities and risks.
  • Develop and implement detailed programs of work for all Services disciplines.
  • Assist in procurement of all long lead time equipment from early procurement to management of delivery and install on site, including attendance at factory witness testing if required.
  • Manage trade packages for all Services disciplines from start to finish where necessary.
  • Lead a services team in all disciplines by example, motivate and mentor direct reports.
  • Appropriately delegate tasks to direct reports and ensure that relevant information is communicated enabling them to effectively carry out their functions.
  • Assist with the services coordination between mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, security, and controls disciplines.
  • Provide a point of escalation between Hickory site management and site sub-contracted services trades and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the programming of services site works in accordance with the Hickory construction program.
  • Work closely with key services suppliers to ensure delivery of plant and equipment in line with the scheduling of installation services (including client supplied plant and equipment).
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager & Construction Manager, plan and review overall status of the project on an ongoing basis focussed on services trade disciplines.
  • Understand the detailed services design, assist with the explanation of services work to non-services trades and project resources.
  • Ensure the site Project Manager is promptly advised on any services issues or clashes that have the potential to cause delay, variations or disruption to the project contract, timelines, and scope of works.
  • Review and approve services trades progress payments, reports and issues.
  • Implement an electrical safety permit System for safe energisation and switching of both HV and LV.
  • Provide technical input and assist in assessment of subcontract progress claims and variation assessments.
  • Management and review of project services shop drawings.
  • Lead all project related meetings for services disciplines and provide clear and consistent direction to project services team.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards.
  • Supervise and coordinate the tasks and activities of employees and subcontractors for all Services disciplines to ensure continuity and correct sequencing of work.
  • Monitor and inspect the work of subcontractors for all Services disciplines to ensure quality of workmanship, adherence to specifications, schedules and completion.
  • Maintaining up to date site wide diary and photographic record for all Services disciplines.
  • Administer and comply with Hickory Quality Assurance processes and maintain documentation for all Services disciplines.
  • Establish, monitor and oversee the commissioning process of all services.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include training staff; planning and delegating work; motivating staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems; building cohesive teams for all Services disciplines.
  • Ensure the provision of a safe working environment for all Services disciplines.  Liaise with Safety Managers to manage the development,  implementation and compliance auditing of OHS&E plans for the project.
  • Coordinate design of work packages for all Services disciplines, communicate directly with architectural design, engineering design, full service design, building surveyors as required.
  • Supervision and management of final commissioning process and ensuring subcontractor handover to facilities management is completed smoothly and in a timely manner.

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
  • Tertiary qualifications in Building and Construction, Services Discipline OR Tafe Diploma in Building.
  • Previous experience in Data Centre construction.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.
  • Assertive but diplomatic; hold stakeholders to account (eg: regarding time, cost, safety and quality).
  • Lead by example; motivate and mentor direct reports.
  • Ability to operate independently and use of initiative.
  • Ability to operate within a team and contribute as required.
  • Ability to develop conceptual designs and coordinate such with relevant parties.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Understanding of site documentation such as plans, specifications etc.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or progressive tertiary qualifications.
