POSITION OVERVIEW
The CAD Designer is a multifunctional and pivotal role, acting as the link between concept design and manufacturing. The position is responsible for transforming conceptual ideas into accurate, manufacturable 2D and 3D models of prefabricated building elements and assemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
3D Modelling
- Develop accurate 3D models of prefabricated elements to support design, manufacturing, and installation.
- Produce “mini models” to aid factory and supply chain coordination.
- Identify and resolve clashes in collaboration with the DFMA Design Manager.
- Design components for efficient manufacture, modular integration, and standardisation.
Shop Drawing Production
- Prepare and update detailed shop drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
Design and Production Liaison
- Serve as the key link between design, factory, and subcontractor teams to ensure alignment and minimise rework.
Drawing Specification Compliance
- Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, DFMA principles, and relevant industry standards or codes.
Drawing Revisions
- Update and issue drawing revisions promptly in response to design changes or feedback.
Drawing Records Management
- Maintain organised records of drawings, revisions, and versions using Vault or equivalent document control systems.
Drafting
- Produce detailed fabrication and assembly drawings suitable for shop floor use.
Project Management
- Maintain version control and structured file management practices.
- Participate in pre-production virtual or physical build activities as required.
- Support change management processes as directed by the Design Manager.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Mastery of Autodesk Inventor and advanced proficiency in Revit.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant design software.
- Strong technical drawing and 3D modelling skills.
- Knowledge of DFMA principles is advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in CAD design and drafting within manufacturing, prefabrication, or building industries.
- Experience supporting DFMA and MMC workflows preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across design, factory, and subcontractor teams.
