POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, the Communications Manager will lead strategic internal and external communications across Hickory Group to build employee engagement, strengthen stakeholder and customer relationships, and enhance organisational reputation. The role translates the business’s strategic direction into clear, consistent communication that informs, connects and supports our purpose and values.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Communications
- Deliver clear, consistent internal communications that support business priorities.
- Manage internal channels and maintain a coordinated communications calendar.
- Improve communication processes, templates and guidelines across Hickory Group.
Employee Engagement & Culture
- Create communications that strengthen culture, values and employee connection.
- Support People & Culture with engagement insights, surveys and EVP messaging.
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
- Develop tailored communication for customers, partners, suppliers and industry bodies.
- Support external visibility through events, awards, thought leadership and industry forums.
Executive & Leadership Communications
- Draft speeches, presentations, updates and talking points for senior leaders.
- Support leadership visibility and communication effectiveness.
Media & Reputation Management
- Manage media enquiries, announcements and press materials.
- Monitor media sentiment and support issues and crisis communication when required.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field.
- Extensive experience in comparable communications roles, with clear progression in scope and strategic impact.
- Proven capability across internal communications, stakeholder engagement, change communications and employee engagement.
- Experience within construction, property, infrastructure or similarly complex environments is preferred.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating writing excellence and successful communication initiatives.
