POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Manager plays a critical role in the successful delivery of H-Adapt projects, focusing on repurposing existing buildings, refurbishments, infrastructure upgrades, and retrofit/fit-out works. Leveraging Hickory’s experienced construction and development capability, H-Adapt is leading a new era of construction through smarter, more sustainable asset transformation.
We are experiencing strong growth within H-Adapt and have a solid workbook ahead. We are seeking Project Managers with proven experience delivering projects in live environments, particularly across asset upgrades, refurbishments, and fit-out works within sectors such as retail, commercial office, and hotels, with the ability to manage staging and delivery while minimising disruption to ongoing operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Planning & Delivery: Develop and drive project plans, including staging and methodologies suited to refurbishment and live environment works, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Contract Management: Oversee head contract and subcontract performance, ensuring commercial obligations are met, risks are mitigated, and favourable project outcomes are achieved.
  • Commercial & Financial Oversight: Maintain strong financial control across projects, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and identification of value engineering opportunities.
  • Live Environment Delivery: Lead the safe and efficient execution of works within occupied or operational sites, coordinating access, staging, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Resource & Subcontractor Leadership: Manage and direct subcontractors and trades, ensuring productivity, quality, and alignment with program outcomes.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all works meet design intent, client expectations, and Hickory quality standards, particularly across fit-out and refurbishment finishes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, tenants, consultants, and internal teams, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Risk & Safety Management: Identify and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with all HSEQ requirements, particularly in complex live environments.
  • Program Management: Drive project timelines, sequencing, and coordination to achieve key milestones and successful delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE
  • Relevant Qualifications: Bachelor of Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or equivalent.
  • Refurbishment & Fit-Out Experience: 7+ experience delivering commercial construction projects, with a strong focus on refurbishments, fit-outs, and asset upgrades.
  • Live Environment Expertise: Proven experience managing projects within operational or occupied environments, with an understanding of staging, access, and stakeholder constraints.
  • Sector Experience: Exposure to projects across retail, commercial office, hospitality, or similar sectors highly regarded.
  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Strong capability in managing project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Program & Delivery Focus: Demonstrated ability to plan, sequence, and deliver complex refurbishment projects to program.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across clients, consultants, and delivery teams.
