POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the Senior Project Planner is pivotal in ensuring the seamless orchestration of construction projects through meticulous scheduling and program management. Tasked with crafting comprehensive and accurate construction programs, the in-house programmer serves as the linchpin for project teams, providing them with a roadmap for effective time management and resource utilisation. By integrating construction knowledge, project management proficiency and analytical skills, the Project Planner plays a vital role in optimising project timelines, resource allocation and overall project efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and Manage Construction Schedules: Create and maintain detailed project timelines to guide teams, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely project completion.
  • Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Engage with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to integrate input and align the construction program with project goals.
  • Leverage Project Management Software: Utilize software tools for accurate creation, updates, and management of construction schedules, enhancing the scheduling process.
  • Conduct Critical Path and Risk Analysis: Identify critical paths and assess potential risks to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and develop contingency plans to prevent delays.
  • Provide Real-time Schedule Updates: Regularly update schedules to reflect changes, providing project teams with current insights for informed decision-making.
  • Optimize Resource Allocation: Evaluate and allocate resources efficiently throughout project phases to ensure cost-effectiveness and minimize waste.
  • Implement Change Management and Continuous Improvement: Follow change management procedures to assess impacts on schedules and promote ongoing learning by integrating best practices and industry trends.
  • Perform Forecasting and Time Impact Analysis: Analyze historical data and current trends to forecast project needs and evaluate the impact of changes on timelines.
  • Ensure Compliance with Industry Standards: Stay updated on construction regulations and safety requirements to ensure schedules comply with legal standards.
  • Facilitate Team Collaboration and Communication: Foster a collaborative environment through clear communication channels, schedule workshops, and training to align project teams.
  • Monitor and Report on Schedule Performance: Track and evaluate schedule performance metrics, providing comprehensive reports to stakeholders on progress, milestones, and risks.
  • Integrate Lean Construction Principles: Apply lean construction techniques to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance schedule efficiency.
  • Coordinate Multi-Project Scheduling: Manage schedules for multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and optimizing resource utilization across all endeavors.

 

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Planner role in the commercial construction industry.
  • Hands-on experience with project management software tools, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
  • Experience coordinating the scheduling of multiple projects simultaneously showcases the ability to manage complexity and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Experience conducting training sessions or workshops related to construction scheduling.
