Ancora Apartments is a 28-storey residential tower located at 971 Collins Street, Melbourne. Comprising 312 high-end residences—including Waterfront Apartments, Sky Homes, Harbour Homes (townhouses), and River Homes—the project offers a premium living experience with access to shared amenities in the neighbouring CW2 building, as well as exclusive CW3 facilities such as landscaped rooftop terraces, a Library Room, and a Multimedia Room.

Hickory’s construction approach for this project integrates a Value Management strategy to optimise cost, functionality, and quality, incorporating design refinement, cost-effective material selection, and risk mitigation. Sustainability is embedded throughout, aiming to minimise environmental impact while maximising long-term value. The project also leverages advanced construction methodologies, including several piling techniques and precast concrete solutions, enabling a parallel-track construction program that delivers efficiency, safety, and precision across all stages of the build.

Features

The facade features a three-stage design transitioning from a solid podium base to lighter upper levels. The facade reflects a maritime theme, transitioning from a solid hull at the base to lighter sail-like elements at the top, in line with the objectives of the Collins Wharf.

The design conveys a variety of finishes, including light and dark grey double-glazed glass, an aluminium cladding system powder-coated in bronze and champagne for a pop of contrast, and unique textured precast concrete with Reckli and brick finishes. The upper levels feature dynamic, sail-like finishes, with the building orientation maximizing water views.

The podium draws inspiration from Melbourne’s laneways, with intricate detailing and clear pathways at entrances.
